Things We Love

Question Difficulty

In this Things We Love video, Marian shares a strategy involving the ordering of questions on a worksheet based on varying difficulty levels. If teachers always put the hardest questions at the end of the page, some students might catch on and never even attempt to answer those questions based on their perception of difficulty. Think about which questions build a foundation for the questions that follow, and order them that way, or switch things up completely, and watch your students succeed at questions they otherwise may have skipped!

Magic Mathematics

Sometimes it might be a good idea to insert some magic into teaching math to your students. A great way to explore this fun side of math is using some pretty simple “magic” tricks. In this Things We Love video, Marian shares some math teaching that can be presented through tricks. Whether as a warm-up activity or as an introduction to a topic, these ideas can be used to explore algebra and place value. Enchant your students with a few of these tricks, and we’re sure students will be curious to know how you pulled them off.
