How to Use Bar Models to Represent Equations

In this how-to video, Marian demonstrates using bar models, or bar diagrams, as a simple method of showing equations. Not only does this show students the relationship between adding and subtracting and between multiplication and division, but it is also an easy-to- visualize method of showing the balance in equations. Students can use bar models as a starting point to solve an equation as well as to provide a visual test of their answers.
