Kindergarten to Grade 2

Grades 3 to 5

Grades 6 to 8

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where students need more practice with a concept or idea? How can you give your students an extra challenge or a fun twist on a problem? In this series of Let’s Dig In videos, Marian introduces the “but what if” idea, which takes an existing problem and changes a condition within the problem to create a new problem for students to solve. Marian will go through several examples for each grade band, providing you with inspiration and confidence to challenge your students and help assess their understanding.

Replacing Worksheets

Kindergarten to Grade 2

Grades 3 to 5

Grades 6 and 8

Worksheets have become the standard that teachers use to assess students’ understanding and knowledge after a lesson, but they’re not always the most effective way to engage students in meaningful practice. In fact, worksheets may be a hindrance to some students, despite their ability level. In this issue’s Let’s Dig In sessions, Marian goes over ways to engage students and assess their progress without the use of worksheets. Specific examples are provided for each grade band, giving teachers a starting point and some inspiration on incorporating worksheet-free assessments.
