These open questions focus on pattern and geometry and are appropriate for students from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

Open Question #1

What might the pattern be, and what term might this picture represent? How do you know?
Sample answers:
I think the pattern is 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, … , and this picture shows the eighth term since we started with 3 and added 2 seven times.
OR I think the pattern is 1, 9, 17, 25, … , and this picture shows the third term since we started with 1 and added 8 each time.
