After watching this issue’s Things We Love video, we hope you’ll see why using visual patterns in your classroom can be a great way to help students notice and understand relationships in mathematics. The visual patterns we love most are those that can be interpreted in more than one way, even when their arrangements, at first glance, may appear to be simple. Students can get creative with the expressions they come up with to describe the pattern rule for the examples in the video, or you could challenge them to create visual patterns of their own.
